Many environments are not conducive to learning; therefore, acquiring and remembering important knowledge or skills (especially when there is a lot to know) can be a struggle. When learning is challenging, frustration often sets in, and critical information is lost or forgotten when needed most.
I believe every training experience should ignite learning in ways that information is accessible and transferrable. Being able to recall knowledge when needed gives confidence in one’s abilities to explore what is possible!
I have been teaching since I was old enough to play school in my basement and have over 30 years of experience as a seasoned camp professional. If I can explain math to 8th graders so they get it (and like it), I can teach just about anything!
I deliver content using appropriate training methods based on the topic and desired learning outcomes.
I employ creative and interactive learning strategies to present training topics so that information can be easily remembered when needed most.
I am able to effectively work with groups of varying ages, sizes and backgrounds in both indoor and outdoor settings worldwide.
I ignite the learning of others by being a learner myself. I read, listen, write, discuss, question, and keep up with industry trends to know and train on current issues.
I research programs and organizations and tailor training for each unique audience.
I create top notch content and deliver in ways that fosters the learning and recall of important information. I connect the dots to previous and future learning.
A group remains only a collection of people unless they are guided on their journey to evolve into a community. Staff will be able to recognize the stages of group development in various camper groupings, foster growth at each stage through intentional activities, and cultivate the progression from group to community.
Set up your co-counselor groupings for success by establishing lines of communication and teamwork BEFORE campers arrive. This proactive approach will be the difference between make-it or break-it relationships as staff work through issues that can potentially turn into a big deal if left unexplored.
Teach staff how to intentionally make good choices regarding the routines of a typical day at camp. Makes beginnings, clean-up, mealtimes, down time, transitions, unexpected schedule changes, and endings easier on your counselors! Turn these potential challenging moments into quality time spent with campers.
Your staff will be experience leadership instead of just talking about it! Leadership lessons that are vital to success as a staff member and more importantly as a staff team will be emphasized.
Acquaint staff with the 'typical' camper at various ages while exploring physical, emotional, behavioral and social traits at each stage. The final activity will connect the dots for staff so they know what to DO when working with each age group.
Kim can design a session based on your training needs...just ask! She can also be a virtual guest for staff training or meetings before or during the summer. Being on the big screen is almost like being there in person (just less cost!).
I look forward to learning with you this year!
